Pope Francis recently during the Synod on Youth, identified Jesus as Radical and called us all for a radical following of Jesus. This call from the Pope awakens us from a long lull in our following of Jesus Christ, awakens us to realise how far we have strayed away from the Jesus of Christianity. The birth and growth and spread of Christianity naturally demands the church, its structures and the leaders to make necessary changes. No body can expect us to return to Jesus times and live exactly in the way He lived with his followers and the surroundings. But that is no reason to get away from the founder of Christianity, his teachings and his command - Go into the world, make disciples and preach the coming of the Kingdom of God.
The spread and growth of Christianity has made the Church loaded with institutions, administrators, buildings, theologies, …..Are we getting lost in these? and missing the figure and message of the Founder? This is a serious question to all the churches of the world today, because from the origins in Jesus Christ in Jerusalem in the first century to the birth of the church at Pentecost to its sprad and growth through time and space, so many things have been changed, given up, fortified up to 15th century and then transplanted in Latin America, Africa and Asia. In the light of all these historic changes, we must ask how the present church on our soil is the true church of Jesus Christ as begun in the first Pentecost.
